Iris recognition is a kind of biometric identification technology which has very high security. Iris recognition is getting more and more seriously attentions when the information security becomes worse and worse in the modern society. The iris identification technology which includes rich and stable iris texture has the characteristics of uniqueness, high security and high stability, so it has a wide range of scientific research value and application prospect. First of all, the implementation process of traditional iris recognition system is analyzed in this dissertation, and then some unsolved key problems are researched. The image acquisition and identification algorithm of an iris recognition system is researched on detail. An image acquisition solution in specific applications is put forward, and the iris recognition algorithms by programming are completed and optimized. The main contents are as follows:1. After the analysis of traditional iris recognition system’s working principle, the whole process of iris recognition is summed up, and some problems and deficiencies are pointed out which exist in the design and work of the traditional iris recognition system, and then the key factors which affect the efficient work of the iris recognition system are summed up. In the end, the iris recognition system design requirements in this research are proposed.2. The composition of the iris image acquisition system is introduced. The influence factors on the iris image acquisition are analyzed in terms of the type of lens, the light source, the image sensor, the user experience and so on. According to the factors mentioned above and the actual application environment, an automatic distance sensing of iris image acquisition system is proposed and designed. Distance detection can be completed in the system through the infrared and ultrasonic sensors which controlled by single chip microcomputer, and then the eye image will be captured automatically when the users arrive to the appropriate scope of the lens depth of field.3. A fast iris localization algorithm is designed. Aiming at the problem of the traditional localization algorithm which is hard to unify between the time efficiency and accuracy, a new method is put forward which based on the image gradient radial symmetry transform and circular difference algorithm. The inherent characteristics of the human eye iris image is been used in this method. In order to further improve the real-time of the algorithm, the time complexity of the algorithm is analyzed and improved. And then some tests to verify the reliability of the algorithm are designed.4. The iris recognition software is analyzed and designed. According to previous research, the whole process of the iris recognition algorithm code is completed, and then a program with graphical user interface is designed by Qt Creator. At last, a detailed introduction and analysis about the software is been carried on.
