Biometric Recognition Technology develops very fast recently, which recognize people by means of some sole and stable features.So it is highly reliable and safe. During various external features of human body , iris has very special structure which provides the iris identification with excelsior accuracy. Iris identification technology is regarded as one of the most promising biometric recognition technology. As a newly emerging biometric technology, iris recognition has been receiving more and more interests.In this paper, the development of biometric recognition and some kinds of biometric recognition techniques are introduced. The algorithm of iris recognition has also been researched deeply. The realization and betterment of the algorithms of iris location and the compare of the results are focused on researching .In the most important fixed position respect of this paper, a great number of the latest classical Iris localization algorithm are read, and several algorithms are realized. These algorithms are improved according to adopted pictures' characteristic. The results are compared and analyzed. However, these are some advantages and disadvantages in precision or operation.A three-step location approach combining coarse location with fine location and result correction is presented,and an extant iris location algorithm is improved in order to fasten the speed of iris location and make the iris location more robust. Experiments show that the method has good performance of sub-pixel precision and uses less time compared with original iris location method. The three-step location approach can fasten location speed and decrease the blindness of search computation, and the improved iris location algorithm is reasonably more robust than original one.
