As infrared detection technology has a great value of application, it has drawn many countries’ attentions in this area. Infrared detector testing technology is one of the most important branches of infrared detection technology, which was also a supporting foundation to the development of infrared technology. Much work on this area has been done by Chinese researchers. The author’s laboratory has developed an infrared detector testing system with independent intellectual property rights. The testing system mostly focuses on the study of electrical parameter testing. Less work has been done in the area of spectral Response, Crosstalk, and Modulation Transfer Function(MTF) testing.In order to study the spectral response, crosstalk and MTF, the characteristics of infrared focal plane array(IRFPA) were studied firstly in the paper. The sensitive material of the detector by conducting experiments was studied and working principle of the detection in theory was analyzed. The tests required specific hardware platform. Based on the existing technology of laboratory, the test platform’s hardware circuit was built. Then the power supply module, the driver module of focal plane array, the data acquisition module and the temperature control module of the test system were described.The crosstalk was theoretically analyzed firstly in the paper, including its physical meaning, and testing methods. Then the test method was designed based on existing methods. Also, the influence of optical system and optical aperture of the test has been studied.Commonly used test methods have a disadvantage of light offset. So, a new test method is designed. Firstly, the submultiple of pixel’s size as the step length was used. Secondly, a small area around the tested pixel was scanned using a light spot. Thirdly, the signal’s value of the tested pixel was acquired by moving the light spot step by step. Compare the calculated result with the other methods, the distinction between these two results is quite small.The research of the spectral response and MTF was conducted in the same way while studying crosstalk. Firstly, the physical meaning, influence factors and testing methods were analyzed. Then, the pixel’s influence on the spectral response using specific tests was analyzed. In the process of studying MTF, the influences of optical system and the slit was studied. The slit error for the test result was simulated using MATLAB.
