Receiver plays a important role in radars and communicate systems, witch abstract useful reflect signals from object and transfer it into digital signals using devices such as filter, amplifier, mixer and demodulator. Superheterodyne technic is the main technic used by electronic systems to manage RF signals. It is a key component in many electronic systems, especially in high performance electronic systems such as phased array radars, broadband communication, ultra broadband electronic countermeasure and so on. High performance, miniaturization and low power dissipation is the key technical element of superheterodyne frontends.An L-band receiver used in shipboard radar is designed in this issue. It is designed based on uperheterodyne principles and current hardware devices. It meets all system demands such as high dynamic range, miniaturization, low power dissipation and so on. It is valueable to the application and performance improvement of current electronic systems. The issue contains the following content:1. The base principle and kinds of receivers are expatiated. After introduced the parameters of the receiver and parts, it is particularly explained that how to realize it. Then the block diagram of the receiver was designed.2. The receiver was divided into the frontend, the intermediate frequency section and the frequency synthesizer by function. The parameters were figured out to meet the requirements of the receiver, and then the method of realization for each section was chosen.3. The kinds and characteristics of major devices used in each section were introduced, especially those devices which have significant effects on the parameters. Then it is determined that which kind of devices should be used and which model can meet the requirement.4. The receiver was tested and analysed, and the picture of the receiver were given.5. The disadvantages were analysed and the further improvements were discussed in this issue.The receiver designed in this issue satisfies all electronic requirements that the shipboard rada system need, and it is also meet the demands both on size and power dissipation.
