Narrative Analysis About Parent-child Reality Show

Since reality show was introduced into China more than a decade, the narrative is increasingly becoming an important means of programs to attract viewers. Reality TV is a dynamic purposeful linear narrative pattern. Looking for a good story and using narrative techniques reflects the production skill programs. Different narrative methods generate differentiated narrative effect and different program ideas. This article based on the perspective of classical narrative theory, which summed parenting reality show mode and explored the culture value of such programs. This article also provides a reference for similar programs.“Daddy, where are we going” is a Hunan TV reality show broadcasted in 2013, which is a outdoors parenting program from the original Korean television station MBC’s "Daddy where are we going."Chinese version reached high audience rating with excellent production standards and the demonstration of cultural values. Celebrities, parenting, travel and other elements to enrich the China reality TV show themes. “Daddy, where are we going” has become the benchmark for China parenting reality show. It also has been leading the wave of Chinese parenting reality show. According to reports, in 2014 there will be over 20 parenting TV programs broadcast. Zhejiang TV “The First Time" is causing a big stir among these new parenting reality shows. These two TV programs have the same elements, both of them received help by Korean filming team. They can represent our country’s standard of parenting reality show.This article selects “Daddy, where are we going” and “The First Time "as the samples, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to discuss the following questions:1. Are these two programs have a mature narrative mode? How the narrative mode should be kept by reality shows?2.
