Analysis on the meaning of media texts from consumer and media culture perspective is an assignable method of culture study. The consumer concept was brought by scholars during the capital society formation, then affects every corner of life. As a principal area of mass culture, the consumer culture has a great impact on media art. Vice versa, media art developed as a platform to help consumer culture spread. This paper sum up the consumer culture theories and pick the job-hunting reality show as an example to explore how consumer culture affects the television art.Job-hunting reality show is a TV program that helps people fulfill their wishes of finding a job. This show has been through three phases in China including an origin and two organism phases. Absolute challenge is the representative production of the origin period. After that commercial war becomes the main TV form during first organism phase and the most influential show is win in China, which winner can obtain tens of millions adventure investment. It starts a new business era. The third phase is known for the television audition form, such as you are hired. No matter who watches the show, they have finished their consumer experience. People get pleasure feelings through participate or watch the show.The job-hunting reality TV released according with our society economy environment is developed under the influence of consumer culture. After fulfill people wishes of pursing a good job, it brings a sensational impact. However, along with consumption, the program concerns more about profits rather than culture art. It wastes viewers feeling and lose its responsibility. All these drawbacks make culture domain back to culture industry. This paper explores a new way in term of program development from a point of analysis on consumer theory.
