The presence of low power factor, harmonics and other issues are often exist in power system, resulting in some of these issues will affect the operation of the power grid, the study of this subject is designed to reduce the impact of the problems in the grid, including the low power factor and harmonics. With the development of power electronics technology, the existence of problems which including the low power factor and harmonics in the power system, active power filter, because of its obvious advantages, replacing traditional passive power filter, is widely used in power system distribution network.Firstly, the subject is studied by means of MATLAB / SIMULINK simulation platform to research traditional p, q calculating mode and pi, qi calculating mode based on instantaneous reactive power theory, proposed to use an improved calculation methods- Improved pi, qi operation mode.Secondly, through the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional control methods, dual loop control strategy because of its fast response, easy to realize in the project, and as the presence of load current distortion, low power factor and other issues in Jiangxi distribution network, we proposed to use the double closed loop control strategy which detected the load current.Again, according to the RTDS signal test equipment requirements, we designed the expansion RTDS standard interface board for connecting the physical controller and RTDS to build simulation models, test results show that combining physical controller with RTDS were better than the traditional pure software simulation testing, and closer to the actual results. The extension standard interface board extends the use of RTDS.Finally, APF controller simulation tests based on the RTDS and field tests, the consistency of the results, verifying the validity and accuracy of the extension of the standard interface board, expanding the scope of application of RTDS, saving human and material resources, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining real-time digital simulation test with physical controllers. Meanwhile, through APF controller simula-tion test, we proposed the standard testing methods, including the DC side voltage tests, running tests(the ability of limiting current test, compensation effect test and dynamic response test) and the protection test(voltage fluctuation and frequency fluctuation) under abnormal state. Standard test method proposed in the subject has good versatility to the inverter device on similar projects.
