Cloud computing provides the virtualized dynamic and scalable cloud resources through the Internet. The emergence of the cloud computing paradigm has not only changed the mode of IT services, but also affected the mode of application development. More and more developers use cloud computing as an alternative platform to develop and execute application. So, aiming at how to customize cloud resources that meet the development requirements from the resource pool formed by multiple cloud providers’ interconnection, the cloud resource selection method for the software engineer has become the key to solve the problem. In this paper, the characteristics of software developers’ requirement information in the resource discovery and the selection process are analyzed, and a user requirement ontology oriented cloud resource selection method is proposed accordingly. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1) Design of the cloud resource selection methodFrom the point view of the user, ontology is used to descript the user’s requirement, the resource constraints and the cloud resource properties in the proposed method. The ontology mapping model proposed by Sun is referred to, the corresponding matching algorithm is used, and the resource constraints to the underlying resources are mapped through two steps of mapping so that the developers can choose the most appropriate cloud resources only according to the requirements when they can’t understand the underlying cloud resources in detail in advance.(2) Using ontology to descript the user’s requirements and the resourcesIn this paper, ontology is used to semantically descript the user’s requirements then translate it into the constraints for the deployment of resources. These constraints are used to discover and select out the cloud resources. In the resource selection stage, these constraints are divided into soft requirement and hard requirement according to the actual requirements which increases the ability of the knowledge understanding of computer.(3) Design of the two-dimensional matching algorithmsThe hard requirements mapping is firstly used by the algorithm to select out the available resources that meet users’ necessary function requirements and then the soft requirements in the second matching stage is utilized to filter out the most appropriate resources in the available resources.
