Sturgeon causes a widespread attention on people because of its higheconomic and nutritional value,as well as unique biological characteristics.Although China’s sturgeon aquaculture industry began late, but it has a rapiddevelopment in recent years. China has become a big sturgeon farming countrywhose sturgeon aquaculture industry has reached20,000to30,000tons that hasreached to seventy to eighty percent of the proportion of world production. Thecurrent sturgeon farming method is mainly intensification. Especially in Beijing, sturgeon farming industry is a very important part in the aquaculture chain. In theintensification process, physical or chemical changes in the environment oftenlead to changes in fish behavior, for example, high-density cage enviroment willmake sturgeon in a state of tension, and to feed the fish directly caused the fishfeeding behavior, so to study sturgeon behavioral surveillance has an importanteconomic value. Traditional fish behavior monitoring methods includes manualobservation method, machine vision method and acoustic telemetry. In the abovemethod, the manual observation method is susceptible to people, so it will has agreat evaluating error;the machine vision approach is not only complex, but alsothe recognition result is vulnerable to application condition, such as light, fishoverlap, influence of water turbidity. Thus the machine vision approach is notsuitable for high-density aquaculture process; acoustic telemetry as an invasivetechnique, it will affect fish growth rates, and even cause fish death. The projectcombines the advantages and disadvantages of the three fish behaviormonitoring methods, innovatively sonar imaging equipment used in intensive farming sturgeon behavior monitoring process, both to avoid the acoustictelemetry for sturgeon invasive damage, advantage can also use imaging sonartechnology. In order to improve feedstuff utilization in the feeding process, while enhancing the information level of aquaculture process, the project isbased on research on the relationship during feeding and feeding behavior ofsturgeon in the intensive environment. Because of feeding behavior associatedwith different sturgeon distribution. Therefore, the project uses DIDSON toconduct studies on relationship between the sturgeon numbers of the local areain the cages and feeding behavior. Thus seeking a new way to indirectmonitoring fish feeding behavior by the change of amount of resources via alocal area.1.Research on the optimal parameters to acquire sturgeon acoustic echoimages:The difference of sonar gain directly reduce to the contrast differentbetween the target and the background of the obtained sonar image, then affectsthe post-processing accuracy of the sonar image. Therefore, the optimal gain(Sonar Gain) selection is studied based on maximum entropy thresholdsegmentation algorithm.2. Research on the method of processing sturgeon sonar image:To analyze differences and similarities between sonar images andtraditional optical images, combined with current research on image processingand the characteristics of target sturgeons in the acquired sonar images, waveletde-noising, target detection based on the frame difference and target countingbased on the shape parameters is completed.3. Research on the relationship between local sturgeon resources in thecage and feeding behavior:Sonar data from the obtained acoustic video between16:00-18:00pm everyday from late July to late August is selected and is sampled by certain samplingrate. Then the sonar images are all processed and the resources are obtained. In feeding time limit,5minutes as a time period, a total of11relevant time periodis selected. Draw the trends curse of sturgeon resources made up of thesefeeding time segments, and analyze the graph trends and estimate the accuracydepend on the actual farming experience.
