Abstract/Summary:
Wireless Mesh Network has become global research hot spot in next generation network technology. It can be used to resolve multi-hop telecommunication problems, so it receives the extensive concern day by day. Wireless Mesh Network driven from Mobile Ad hoc Network and possesses good properties at self-organization, self-repair, multi-hop communication and so on. At the same time, it supports different kinds of client stations and access points, and carry on supplementary for other kinds of wireless networks so as to make a stronger mixed network. This paper makes some research on basic principle of Wireless Mesh Networks, and discusses the key technology of IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol. Then analyses the performance of Wireless Mesh Networks based on IEEE 802.11 protocols. On those bases, a multi-channel allocation mechanism based on property of nodes is presented. The scheme meets the requirements of centralized Wireless Mesh Networks, and the results of related simulations show that the scheme can increase multi-channel resources utilization rate. In addition, channel access mechanism in IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol is improved based on multi-channel allocation scheme, and the related simulations show that it can improve network capacity as well as the stability of network transmission. This paper includes following six parts:1) Introduction of research background and contents2) Research on basic theory of Wireless Mesh Network and key technology of IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol.3) Analysis about the improvement of Wireless Mesh Network MAC protocol.4) Presentation of centralized multi-channel allocation based on priority of nodes and improvement on IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol based on multi-channel allocation scheme.5) Related simulation on the scheme and analyze the result.6) Summary about the research and the direction of next step of research.
