Binocular Stereo Vision refers to the technique that simulates the principles existing in stereo perception and visual imaging of human eyes, and that gets 3D depth information of target objects by calculating position deviation of two perceptual image after photos of the same target being taken from two different positions. This technique has great research significance and application value in the fields of virtual reality, machine vision, industrial detection, 3D measurement, aerospace and other fields, and has become a hot research subject in computer vision.This article, in the first part briefly describes the development of theories on computer vision and visual surgery. Following this, it designs the stereo vision system based on the simulation platform of brain surgery and explains the software architecture of virtual operation platform. It also penetrates into the overall design of the stereo vision system, hardware structure and software algorithm. The main content goes as follows:1)designing and building up a binocular stereo display system, elaborating the principle of the Wide Angle Three-Dimensional Helmet Mounted Display and the GPU Accelerated Graphics Technology;2)studying the 3D modeling technology in brain surgery medical simulation platform and introducing the Point Cloud modeling method used in this research;3)deciding the proper rendering and mapping method after comparing the triangular mesh, graphics rendering technique based on point model and texture mapping technology, and taking the characteristics of the model of the brain into consideration, which ensures a higher real-time performance and better rendering quality;4)Exploring deeper into the binocular vision of geometric projection model, building the parallel binocular projection model by using Open GL and realizing the software design of binocular stereo display system.
