With the rapid development of computer technology, computer application in quantitative metallographic analysis is a kind of trend, because of its higher efficiency,accurater than artificial, which has been widely developed and applied. The issue uses image processing and data analysis ability of MATLAB and develops of a quantitative metallographic analysis toolbox, which based on MATLAB platform. These toolbox uses the graphical interface design, which has the advantages of simple operation and can complete the identification and analysis of graphite morphology, fracture toughness analysis, grain size analysis, pearlite spheroidization rating and carburized layer measurement.Identification of cast iron and graphite morphology analysis module is through the analysis of the morphology of graphite, according to graphite’s spheroidization rate and the axial length ratio parameter can identify the range of cast iron, and then further to determine the parameters of cast iron related properties. To verify the actual cast iron metallographic and national standard metallograph, the calculation result of this module is reliable.Fracture surface analysis is got through obtaining the impact toughness of 45# steel and HT150 by impact test, and than calculating their fractal dimension, finally getting the relationship between the fractal dimension of fracture and fracture toughness value.The fractal dimension, which has been obtained by box counting method to calculate various national grain grade standard atlas, and use the fractal dimension as the numerical rating criteria, calculate the fractal dimension of metallographic samples to compare measure grain size and fractal dimension of the standard graph, obtained the grain size,results show that the module has a certain accuracy.Using the box counting method to calculate the fractal dimension of pearlite spheroidization rating in the national standard six noduliaing grade standard atlas, and as the rating standard, calculate the spheroidization ratingmetallographic samples fractal rating, andcompared with artificial method, the results show that this method is reliable.The vertical direction of the carburizing layer was obtained through the carburizing experiment. By MATLAB wavelet analysis, the gray level image of the carburizing layer is decomposed by 10 layers and then analyzed and calculated. Geting the thickness of the layer, the results show that it is basically accurate.
