In the communication system, BER tester is an essential equipment that performance testing and troubleshooting. It is an important means of test data transmission quality, which is required for reliable detection of the communication system. Design a fast, convenient way to test accurately detects the error rate of data communication systems has become an important field of communication systems. Design a fast, convenient test methods and how to express this physical phenomenon, since both are still an important research topic.The system design goal is to transmitter, receive and error statistics test code type, which is can be stored in the transmitter; capture data synchronization header after the shunt in the receiver, compare bit error and statistic bit error rate, and then display it through the LED.This project mainly presents the design of a BER (Bit Error Rate) Measurement System. It is made up of PRBS (Pseudo Random Binary Sequence) generating unit, bit error test unit and display unit. The PRBS generating unit is used to simulate the digital information that is supplied to the communications channel under test. Then compare the received signal with the input data to test errors, count the number of bit errors and display it in the7-segment LED (Light Emitting Diode). The performance of BER was obtained by simulating the BER Measurement System in the Proteus ISIS and simulation results were analysed and discussed.
