Research And Development Of BS Management Function For Network Management Agent Server In TETRA Digital Trunked System

TETRA digital trunking communication system is a professional communication system based on TDMA, which is widely used in police, transportation and government networks and so on. NM (Network Management) subsystem is an important part of TETRA digital trunking system and the functions monitering and controlling the digital trunking network are achieved in it, in order to ensure that digital trunking system can provide users with safe, reliable and efficient services. The function managing the resource of BS (Base Station) system is achieved in BS management module for NM agent server, which is a core part of the NM subsystem. Therefore, the research and development of base station management function for network management agent server with independent intellectual property rights is one of the key points in TETRA digital trunked development which is supported by the basic operation expenses for Beijing Jiaotong University.First of all, based on summarizing the development situation of network management system in domestic and foreign communication systems, the structure of TETRA digital trunking system, functions of NM agent server, functions of BS management and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) are analysed and the signaling procedures of BS configuration management, BS performance management and BS fault management are described in detail in this paper. Then, the structure of NM agent server, MIB (Management Information Base), the NMA interface between NM agent server and BS, the NMB and NMC interfaces between NM agent server and NM client are designed and the interactive siganlings of BS configuration management, BS performance management and BS fault management are defined and the main process of BS management module, the processing procedures of BS configuration management, BS performance management and BS fault management are designed. Next, the developing methods are given after analyzing the current developing tools and methods for SNMP agent server. Based on Linux embedded operation system, the main program of BS management module, the BS configuration management module, the BS performance management module and the BS fault management module are developed by using AdventNet Agent Toolkit C Edition toolkit and C programming language in order to achieve the functions such as BS configuration, inquiry and fault alarm and so on. Finally, the BS configuration management function, the performance management function and the fault management function are tested and the testing results show that the BS management functions for NM agent server in TETRA digital trunked system is implemented by BS management module for NM agent server and the design requirements are satisfied.
