In recent years,Ad-hoc network research has become a critical issue. In wirelessself-organizing networks including vehicle ad-hoc network, wireless sensor network(WSN) all have higher requirements for the performance and information security,so the research on the tradeoff of security and performance is a very hot topic. Thispaper mainly divided into two parts: in the first part, take Vehicle ad-hoc networkfor example, raises an efficient and security certificate distribution strategy. We geton research the issue of performance and security deeply, in the second part. Wepropose a widely used model to verify the efficiency of security schemes from themacroscopic aspect. The certificate is a key to ensure the security in the existing security mechanism. It can improve the security of Ad-hoc, but it will reduce the performance. Certificatedistribution mechanism is a key to affect the security and performance. We propose anadaptive certificate distribution strategy that it is capable of dynamically adjustdistribution way according to the various circumstances in order to obtain the optimalequilibrium solution. The major method is setting a threshold which can adaptivelychange according to the traffic context and security situation. When it less than theratio of new cars and all the cars in a given radio range, nodes send packets withcertificate. Contrarily, nodes send packets without certificate. We also present aquantification model to evaluate the income of VANET, including the sending nodes, receiving nodes analysis and calculation of their overhead, security, loss, etc. Theextensive simulation illustrate that the proposed strategy commendably tradeoff theperformance and security under various traffic conditions. We further expand on the " the tradeoff of performance and security in Ad-hocnetwork " research, based on the above research results. Researchers have presentedmany prioritization schemes. Because of these schemes from different aspects, wecannot compare them directly. We raise a widely used approach to evaluate theschemes which tradeoff between performance and security in Ad-hoc network. Wefirst structure the intra-node and inter-node data transmission models using GSPN, then compute the performance, security and income with CMCT (continuous-timeMarkov chain). In this way, we put security strategies into a unified evaluationframework in order to achieve the optimal equilibrium solution, and the modelprovides the theory basis and data reliance for making efficient use of resources.
