As steel are widely applicated in all walks of life,it’s very necessary to continuouslyimprove the analysis and detection technology of the performance of steel for the developmentof the steel.The outer contour detection is one of the indispensable links foe the steel material.Soa method which can well reflect the contour of steel plays a vital role.Compared with themethods of manual eyeballing and contacted detection,the contour detection has been inevitablydevoloped toward to non-contact,high efficiency and high precision detection.So the study onnon-contact detection of contour is very meaningful.In this paper,we have studied a non-contact contour detection method which is based onlasers and COMS image sensor.Taking the moving medium steel plate for the research object,werealize the contour detection of the moving plate by the use of lasers and image sensor.Weespecially realize the detection of shape about the medium steel plate and the extraction ofimage edge coordinates which is based on the image processing.At last,achieving the ultimatecontour imformation by the specific calibration way.Firstly,the paper introduces the current development of the plate contour detection andapplication status.Analysing the contour detection technology research status and develpomenttrends.At the same time,this paper expounds the development and application of imageprocessing in the contour detection.Secondly,the paper introduces an approach of velocity measurement based on photoelectricsensor,using a serial port communication way to acquire voltage signal.We realize theacquirement of medium steel plate velocity imformation by the voltage signal acqusition andtransformation,obtain the useful date by further processment of the acquired velocity and finallycompeleting the match of the endpoint coordinates.Thirdly,the paper has introduced a method of camera calibration,by using the way ofcalibration plate to achieve the calibration of the camera,with more highly calibration analysising and fitting among the camera height,pixel size and actual size,obtains the relevant calibrationparameters and realizes the transformation between the image plane coordinate and spatialcoordinate system.Lastly,the paper studies on image process algorithm about detecting contour of the mediumsteel plate,analyses some interferences the image processing may have and does somecorresponding process for this interferences.We eatract the required image characteristics andcpmpare the differences between the endpont coordinates and the interral coordinates in thebright lines.We realize the edge contour coordinates extraction of the plate by studying aextraction algorithm to abtain the endpoint coordinates in the bright line.According to matchbetween the velocity date and the edge coordinates, achieving the final contour imformationretrieval based on Matlab.
