When target detection is realized by pulse doppler radar, it is difficult to distinguish which pulse the echo belongs to if the echo time delay of the target is longer than the pulse repetition interval(PRI) of the radar pulse, which will result in the range ambiguity. Similarly, the target velocity ambiguity emerges if the doppler frequency of the target is higher than the radar pulse repetition frequency. In fact, ambiguity resolution is a key step in radar signal processing and is of vital significance. This paper systematically researches some existing methods of ambiguity resolution, constructs models and then proposes a new method of high-speed target(especially hypersonic target) ambiguity resolution. At last, a simulation demonstration system of radar target detection and tracking is designed and developed. The work in this paper includes the following three aspects: 1. The related content and methods of ambiguity resolution is studyed deeply. Firstly, the basic content of ambiguity is introduced in view of the distance and speed fuzzy. Then, several ambiguity resolution methods are disscussed and the different characteristics of these methods are analyzed. 2. Put forward a method of the solution of range ambiguity problem about high-speed target. Firstly, it studies the characteristics of range gate spans of high-speed target, analyses the situation when the quantity of the range gate spans is small and summarizes the situation when that is large. Then, on the basis of the analytical results, a new method of high-speed target ambiguity resolution is presented by modeling. Finally, the method is verified by the simulation data. 3. Design a simulation demonstration system of radar target detection and tracking. Firstly, this paper introduces the elevation data and land cover data that used in the system. Then discusses the key theory and technology used during the development. At last, it describes each interface of the system based on its function and operation in detail.
