Wireless Sensor Network(WSN), a combination of sensor technology, embedded computing technology, network and wireless communication technology, distributed information processing technology, can be used to sense and collect a variety of environmental information through various types of integrated micro-sensor. Compared with traditional wireless network, WSN has dynamics, distributed processing capability and high density of network nodes. At the same time, with the depletion of the IPv4 addresses, the Internet is gradually entering the next generation of network-IPv6. The realizing the seamless interconnection between WSN and IPv6 network can contribute significantly to the rapid development of WSN and the expanding of its application range. However, due to the WSN’s adopting low-rate, low bandwidth of IEEE802.15.4 MAC protocol, the Ipv6 protocol cannot directly be built on it. Therefore, the IETF set up the 6Lo WPAN working group to develop WSN protocol based on Ipv6, low speed wireless personal area network standard.This paper describes the Wireless Sensor Network technology and current situation, and introduces the basic ideology of the network protocol architecture, the main function of the adaptation layer, as well as some related background technical, such as Tiny OS and Neighbor Discovery Protocol. This paper emphasizes on how to set up and implement WSN, which takes luminous intensity measurement of the mapped region, implements an Optical Environmental Monitoring System based on wireless sensor networks, The system use CC2530, which is made in TI,as Soc with radio frequency chip to work as its hardware platform, which uses Tiny OS for ins OS and a component-oriented language Nes C for its programming language.According to the design of the proposed Neighbor Discovery Protocol, this thesis describes how Tiny OS Wireless Sensor Network operation system achieves the Neighbor Discovery Protocol algorithm and how to use the components to develop application program. Then this thesis describes how to build a test network of star topology a through hardware platform, verifying the correction and effectiveness of the algorithm and show the test results.Finally, this paper summarizes the main work done and analyzes the problems of the 6Lo WPAN Neighbor Discovery Protocol. Additionally, it gives the expectation and suggestion about the future work.
