In order to accommodate the increasing needs for the desktop computing system security, agility, efficiency and effectiveness from the enterprise customers, more and more world leading information technology companies have started to research on the products and solutions related to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure/Interface (VDI).Microsoft is on the leading edge with its latest VDI technologies. Today most of the enterprises adopted the Windows OS as their desktop platform, but as of today there is not so many Windows-based virtual desktop solution applied to the massive production environment in worldwide, therefore the study on the real solution and the learning from the application in the production environment would be very important and meaningful to VDI promotion and development.Based on a real internal project in Microsoft of studying and promoting of VDI solutions, we focus on how to utilize cloud computing and virtualization, to deal with a special and practice VDI solution. Firstly, we analysis the practice requirements of the lab. Secondly, we design and implement the details of this VDI solution. Last, we get the reports of analysis and testing by testing methods and data analysis.The project related to this thesis, as the first application of the VDI solution in Microsoft internal production environment, achieves the transparent user experiences under a high-secured, central-managed desktop computing environment. Also it forms a real example for Microsoft worldwide internal VDI adoption needs and a value demonstration for external enterprise customers. Its output severs as the valuable technology feedback for Microsoft R&D department. Overall the thesis is very meaningful for continue development and promotion of the VDI technology in the industry.
