With the rapid development of the computer and Internet technology, the datashows explosive growth trend and lots of applications demands more and morehardware resources. The traditional computing model in the current PC age cannot meetmany applications’ needs. Users no longer need the bulky PC to surf the internet, butreplace it with the intelligent cell phone or PAD device. But these devices show greatdisadvantage of low computing and storage performance and could not meet users’request for large scale application environment, thus hardly providing good services.The fast spread and application of the cloud computing technology has now raisedthe third generation of the Internet. Users could now use their intelligent cell phones orPAD devices to access the Internet and enjoy the services that could only be providedon PCs before. But thanks to the brand new computing model of cloud computing,almost all the computing jobs are carried out on the powerful servers in the backgrounddata center. The client just takes the user’ input operation, transfers to the backgroundvirtual machine and print the output. Virtualization technology could simulate multiplevirtual machines in a single physical machine where the simulated machines could sharethe physical hardware resources. Virtualization technology raises the hardware useefficiency and deduces the energy consumption of unit computing. This makes itpossible for the computing and storage to be carried out together.This thesis bases on the current virtual machine platforms and use thevirtualization technology to construct the virtual machine based background data center,which deploy multiple virtual machine in a single machine and provide the unit virtualmachine services. Using the cloud computing concept of design, we could provide thecommon service through the network where users could install software on their thinterminal devices, access the Internet and connect to the virtual machine to enjoy theservices. All these services are provided just like locally. We firstly detailed analysis therelational cloud computing and virtualization technologies, conduct the outline designand then achieve every module of the platform, including platform data stream, theserver stability, the server operations and the virtual machine management. Subsequently, the author carries the detailed design,implements it and names itvmCloud. Last, this thesis tests the performance of vmCloud and analysis and evaluatesit. Through the system test, the availability and feasibility of vmCloud are proved,which could offer the cloud service surveillance field a new idea and method.
