EDFA (Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier) have emerged as vital components of optic fiber communications and networks, which had opened the door to high capacity,high speed and all-optic communications.Erbium-doped fiber amplifier is one of key components used in fiber-optic communication systems,and its performance is closely related to the communication capacity and quality of fiber-optic networks.When utilized in different of situations,EDFA can serve as the line amplifier, power amplifier and pre-amplifier, and there by the requirements of the performance are different.This paper is based on requirement on EDFA of research work. Wen design the circuit of driving and controlling pump LD module, achieve these function such as automatically adjust the current of LD and TEC,protecting EDFA as power on or off and the current out of limit.In design we apply MCU to monitor and measure each parameter of EDFA so as to improve performance and stability. The set of serial communication between EDFA and PC can send realtime parameter from EDFA to PC. The benefit is that EDFA is used more flexibly in more application.In Chapter one, the background of EDFA is introduced.The development and the advantages of EDFA are summarized in detail. The current development directions are analyzed. Then the contents of this thesis are described.In Chapter two, wen introduces the different optical amplifier, this paper introduces the working principle, working characteristic of different kinds of amplifier and in practical application.In Chapter three,we introduced the basic theory of erbium doped fiber amplifier. The network application of EDFA mentioned various characteristics of different requirements; In order to better control these refers to the table, in the design of erbium doped fiber amplifier theory foundation of the research is very important.In Chapter four,we introduced the hardware circuit of erbium-doped fiber amplifier. EDFA hardware including optic route and auxiliary circuit. Optic route of EDFA is to realize the main body of Optical amplifier, in order to reduce the influence of external factors, we joined the protection circuit in the design of circuit; Auxiliary circuit part mainly introduces the automatic temperature control circuit, input and output optical power detection circuit, is the guarantee of EDFA stable work.In Chapter five,Introduces the software design of EDFA. As another kind of key technology of EDFA, control software to complete the work status of EDFA monitoring, adjust the pump power according to the work requirement, the working temperature, and the amplifier parameters real-time transmission to the PC, to enhance the applicability of the amplifierhi Chapter six,we have analyzed the test data of EDFA;In addition, this paper introduces the research prospect of EDFA in the future.
