Compared with microwave communication, space optical communication hasmuch superiority: much greater communication capability, narrow beam, gooddirection, much greater power density functions , lesser antenna size and whole mass ,and high capability of anti-electromagnetism and secrecy. Because of its highfunction-price ratio, under the condition of transmitting same information and samedata rate, it is very fit for high data transmission ratio between satellite and satellite,satellite and space shuttle, and so on. So each country attaches important attention tospace optical communication.It is one of the key techniques of the space optical communication thatresearching the durability of EDFA applying to the radiation in the space opticalcommunication. According to the high technique task about space opticalcommunication arranged by relative department of government, this paper accomplishtheoretic analysis , modeling and simulation , expatiation and probability analysis areput forward based on EDFA applying to space radiation environment.The importance and meaning of the durability of EDFA applying to the radiationin the space optical communication is presented in the paper. The applicationforeground as well as development trend about optical device are introduced. Then themain structure, theoretic model and space radiation environment are narrated,especially, the radiation effects on EDFA are discussed. The chapter of theoreticalanalysis and simulation includes radiation induced loss,using wavelength, temperaturein environment,radiation doss,doss rate. The last,wo advance how to design andchoose EDFA applying to the radiation in the space optical communication.From the reseaching in the paper,wo master the process and result of spaceradiation how to effects EDFA.wo proved the feasibility of EDFA applying to theradiation in the space optical communication in theoretics.
