Wireless sensor network is an application-oriented wireless network systems. When the wireless sensor network is running, sensor nodes perceive information in the form of an endless stream transmission to the sink node by multi-hop, and thus the area around the sink will form a huge data flow. In order to relay packets by other nodes, the node nearby the sink bear huge traffic load, resulting in this area nodes deplete energy rapidly, arise energy hole problem, this area is called the bottleneck area. Whether the nodes in the bottleneck area become invalid or not will directly affects the lifetime of the entire wireless sensor networks, therefore, how to take a good strategy to improve the utilization of energy for bottleneck zone nodes and prolong the network lifetime has become a hot research.In wireless sensor networks, network coding can improve the sensor node’s energy efficiency. But the sensor nodes susceptible to restrictions of their own property and environmental conditions, At present, the research on wireless sensor networks are rarely considered combine the network coding technology and the actual situation of sensor node. In view of the above problems and shortcomings, we proposed a novel solution by a lot of research.This paper presents two kinds of wireless sensor network lifetime optimization strategy, The first kind is optimization strategy of lifetime for bottleneck zone in wireless sensor networks based on network coding. It is considered that the impact of the buffer of the bottleneck area’s sensor node transmit packet, by combined with network coding technology, so we propose the scheme. Another is the saving energy strategy by combine node transmission range and network coding(TRNC) for wireless sensor network. By analyzing the impact of sensor node’s the energy consumption for transmission range, it is found that the consumed energy by sensor node for sending is proportional to its transmission distance. Then the bottleneck area is divided into two layers by adjust the bottleneck zone nodes’ transmission range reasonably, TRNC fully integrated the advantage of network coding, it uses a two-layer network coding method on two bottleneck zone.In this paper, the numerical simulation was done for the two optimization strategies, And compare with the performance of the existing strategies. Experimental results show that the two optimization strategies can improve the energy efficiency and prolong network lifetime.
