As the electromagnetic environment of modern electronic warfare gets increasingly complex, interference measures must be implemented against multiple threat sources simultaneously to ensure security. Specific jam signal is needed to interfere each threat source, so the jammer must be able to release a variety of jam signals. It’s necessary to interfere one threat source only with the corresponding jam signal to keep the jammer undetected. To meet the abo ve requirements, jammer must have the ability to synthesize jam signals and ability of directional interference. Therefor synthesis of jam signal and digital beam forming are mainly discussed.Firstly the principle of beam forming by array antenna is disc ussed, several antenna models are presented, the features of beam formed by array antenna is analyzed. Then based on the principle of array antenna, digital beam forming is introduced, along which how to optimize the beam performance and how to control the beam shape by digital signal processing are discussed. Combining digital signal processing and principle of array antenna, the require to interfere directionally is achieved. Thirdly the principle of synthesis of jam signals are presented, the PAR of synthesized jam signal is discussed, and technologies on decreasing the PAR of blanket jam signal and deception jam signal are introduced respectively. The jam signal must be amplified before transmitt ing, so the impact of nonlinear amplifier on the beam perfo rmance and the jam signal are studied. Finally the impact of amplitude and phase error on the beam performance is discussed, and technology to correct it is presented.
