Nowadays, people pay more and more attention to environmental problems. And with the economic development, people began to emphasize the environment sustainable development. Air quality is one of the most important environmental index which is related to people’s daily life. Due to the low level of science and technology, the environmental problem is becoming increasingly serious in China. And air quality problem must to be solved urgently. But it is a little difficult that we can know the composition of air in the condition that the outdoor air pollution is serious.In this situation, Air quality monitoring is one of the key techniques to solve indoor air quality problems. Because many unscrupulous manufacturers of furniture production, adhesive, decoration materials will release formaldehyde, benzene and other toxic gases, outdoor air PM2.5 perennial exceed the standard, the indoor air quality is not optimistic. The objective of this paper is to develop a small instrument that can observe formaldehyde content, temperature, humidity, TVOC and PM2.5 index indoor. On the other hand, it can monitor of specific environmental air quality remotely so that reminding and the corresponding remedial measures can be done as soon as possible. Thanks to the instrument, people can aim to respond, then protect their health.The detection method, and some common sources of indoor air pollutants are examined in this paper. The principle and applications of the detection methods are also briefly described. Then the suitable sensors of the system are confirmed. This paper introduces the hardware design content which includes the characteristic of sensor, monitoring system control circuit, power supply and other peripheral circuit architecture. After this, the software design content that includes the thinking of total design and detailed plan of development of the software system. This paper also introduces the communication protocol of Wi-Fi transmission, and the principle and function of remote monitoring platform.This paper finally realizes the real-time monitoring of the indoor environment roughly. The system can make good response to the environmental changes, and the reaction according to the temperature, humidity, the concentration of formaldehyde and other indicators are good. The real-time clock can be kept in after power off, and the basic functions of setting RTC is achieved. In general, the target functions of the environmental monitor are completed.In this paper, by using the Wi-Fi function system can transmit the data of real-time monitoring to the specified IP address, and then people can read the data though the management platform. The target functions of the management platform are also completed.
