With the continuous development of science and technology, the precise strike will be the main form in future war. As an important mean of achieving precise strike, precise guided weapons have good performance in the battlefield, and it will be widely used in future local wars. Among the precise guided weapons, the infrared guided missiles detect targets passively, so they have good concealment. In addition, infrared guided missiles have many advantages including high guided precision, agility and so on, so they play an important role in precise guided weapons. In the several local wars after the Second World War, infrared guided missiles have played a significant role. In order to confront the infrared guided missiles better and reduce their threat in the war, many countries have devoted themselves to developing new infrared counter-technologies actively. Many infrared countermeasures and equipments have appeared in the last decades to fight against infrared guided missiles.Among these infrared countermeasures, infrared decoys have become one of the most widely used infrared countermeasures because of their advantages such as high reliability, good performance and so on. The widely use of infrared decoys has affected the performance of infrared guided missiles severely. So it is necessary to fuse an algorithm into seekers to distinguish decoys and targets. Whether a seeker has the ability to distinguish decoys and targets or not has become an important performance indicator of the seeker. Based on this, two algorithms which are used to recognize infrared decoys are studied in this paper. One is infrared decoys recognition method based on geometrical features. In infrared images, there are many differences between decoys and targets in geometrical features which contains the major axis, the minor axis, the aspect ratio, area etc. these differences can be used to recognize targets and decoys. The other infrared decoys recognition method is based on dual-band information fusion. Decoys and targets are different radiation sources, their infrared radiation distribution in different bands has a great difference, and the difference can be used to distinguish decoys and targets. Simulations of these two algorithms are carried out on image sequences which contain targets and decoys, the results show that these two algorithms have good performance and that targets can be well recognized from images.
