The traditional communication system have not be considered for emergency communication characteristics of sudden events, location uncertain, urgency business and diversity information in the design and application. When disaster events occur, the existing communication facilities are damaged. While mobile Ad Hoc network is a distributed wireless network, it not rely on a pre-existing infrastructure and is meeting the demand of emergency communications in the emergency case. But, in the complex environment of the emergency communication, when considering the moving of nodes in mobile Ad Hoc networks and constantly variety of network topology, the routing protocols used in traditional internet can be not adapted to the need of mobile Ad Hoc networks. So, it was proposed a new requirements for the routing protocol. And researching the routing protocol had becoming an important part of mobile Ad Hoc networks. First, the paper researches the characters and abilities of mobile Ad Hoc network, emergency communication, and some existing architecture of mobile Ad Hoc network. Second, he paper designs a new application emergency communication model by mobile Ad Hoc network. Last, the network layer protocol and link layer protocol was improved according to the specific needs of emergency communication, and to simulate the protocols respectively. The results showed that have better performances than original ones in the emergency communication scenario.The major tasks in the project are as follows:First, application of emergency communication model for mobile Ad Hoc network standard. The article purpose is building a temporary Ad Hoc communication with easy and fast under urgency condition, and the Ad Hoc network can communicate with the cell network. Second, through considering the features of mobile Ad Hoc network, researched the network topology under emergency communication scenario in the OPNET Modeler. Then compare architecture of plane cluster network performance by analyzing network statistical characteristics and network throughput. Final, through analyzing the features of AODV protocol, proposed an improvements protocol AODV-ER base on the problem of frequently network topology changes and the mobility of nodes. In an attempt to find a suitable and effective metric for mobile Ad Hoc network’s routing, this paper introduces the average encounter rate metric. In this paper, simulation and compare the AODV routing protocol performance, experimental simulations show that AODV-ER protocol can perform better than AODV. Even for dense nodes of wireless self-organized network, that will have good performance.
