Laos is the only inland country among the Indochina Peninsula. Laos not only lacks economic development, its media industry is lagged behind. On December 1, 1983, Laos had it’s the first television station-Laos national Television Station (know us LNTV).Three major factors restricting the development of the Laos Journalism are:the news system is rigid, the lack of professional contributions, and the backward propagation technique. At the same time, because Thailand and Laos are geographically adjacent, and share similar language and culture. The more advanced Thailand television attracted many viewers, which affected the development of Laos TV industry. The Institutional rigidity, the lack of professionals and the existence of backward communication technologies are the three major factors that restrict the development of Laos Journalism. The Laos People’s Revolutionary Party and Laos Government should relax their control over the news media and grant more autonomy to the Journalism Media. Meanwhile, is also important to help the country develop a better Journalism Education, offer proper training to professional journalists, as well as to increase the funds invested to journalism, including actively seek funds and technical help from the international community as well.
