Virtual reality technology is a high and new technology developed in recent twenty years, it is based on the computer technology as the core, combined with the related science technology, built up to a certain range of the real environment in terms of vision, hearing and touch highly approximate virtual environment. The users can use the necessary equipment such as a mouse, keyboard, data gloves, helmet display and so on, to interact with objects in a virtual environment, this technology can bring users such feelings and experience as in a real environment. At present, the virtual reality technology has been widely used in military, medical, aerospace, virtual exhibition, visualization in scientific computing, education and training, the interactive entertainment and many other fields.Virtual exhibition is an important application field of virtual reality technology, the virtual museum is a typical example of the application through this technology. Virtual exhibition can provide a very realistic three-dimensional virtual exhibition space, and also can virtualize and digitize the real exhibition halls and exhibits. Because of the virtual reality technology has valuable 31 features-immersion, interactive and imagination, the virtual reality technology makes users walk freely in virtual exhibition, interact with and browse the exhibits just like visiting in a real museum.The focus of this paper is the realization of virtual exhibition of Tin Ka Ping based on 3ds Max and Unity 3D. The system builds a virtual scene based on Tin Ka Ping exhibition hall and Tin Ka Ping academy building of Guangxi Normal University Education College. The virtual scene was built by the measurement based on the pavilion, each exhibits and Tin Ka Ping academy building. The main research work is as follows:Model:Prior to model building, according to the Tin Ka Ping Museum and exhibits’size and the layout to set up the whole 3D scene models. By using 3ds Max software, produced prototype exhibition model and used polygon modeling method to streamline the model’s flats and points.Map making:Firstly, taking pictures of the details of exhibition and the exhibits, then using Photoshop process the collected photos to achieve more realistic effects.Roaming generation:Importing the models which was made by 3ds Max to Unity 3D, then by compelling scripts and adding the collider to achieve interactive roaming. Use Unity3D cross-platform features were generated based on Windows and Android roaming application software, to achieve both for PC terminal and mobile terminal roaming application.The research of this paper has certain reference function for the establishment and improvement of virtual exhibition’s related theoretical research fields and methods. And also has positive impact for building a similar size scene.
