The main content of my paper is how to design and implement a kind of portable communicator which can easily visit the intelligent device at field side. It can read all the parameters from field device and modify configurations etc.The communicator consists of three layers: hareware,operating system and software. HART protocol and Device Description technology support is the main contens of the software.The hardware is an embedded system based on SAMSUNG S3C2410 CPU chip as the kernel. I detaild at the designment of HART modem module, touch screen module, LCD module and SD card module.HART protocol is the actual international standard and widely used at the field of automation control system now. So,supporting HART protocol is absolutely necessary to this communicator.Device Description technology is very important at cooperating of different type of intelligent devices, So, the theory of XDDL based on opening XML language is set forth too in this document.Otherwise, winCE transplantation and bootloader programming is documented in my paper too in detail.
