The invention of CT, MRI, and other digital imaging technology led to storage and visualization of massive medical imaging data. Lots of visualization systems have been developed for visualization of medical imaging data.Traditional medical imaging systems are based on desktop, designed and developed according to hardware performance of computers. So that, these systems have uneven storage and rendering capabilities. At the same time, it is difficult to achieve cross-platform access in different operation system or mobile devices, and these systems lack of coordination mechanism. In this paper, we propose a remote medical imaging interactive visualization system based on cloud platform. Using the large storage and powerful capabilities of processing images and graphics, it can achieve storage, decoding, segmentation and volume rendering. Then, according to the proposed exchange protocol of medical metadata and image data, users can do searching, affine and color transformation in two-dimensional imaging and adjustment of transfer function, lighting parameters and rendering method in three-dimensional imaging.Nowadays, most researches of collaborative interactive visualization is the data distribution from the server to the client and rendering with WebGL, or the data visualization in the server and distributed to client. Collaborative interactive visualization is also supported in the exchange protocol proposed in this paper. After the interaction between the master user and the cloud server, the others can share the medical imaging by peer-to-peer data transmission and achieve two-dimensional or three-dimensional collaborative interactive visualization. This mechanism truly achieves computing and distribution once, sharing many times.Experimental results show that our system not only support two-dimensional browsing and rigid and visual transformation, but also support advanced segmentation and three-dimensional volume rendering with coordination mechanism, and has better real-time interactivity.
