Motion capture was first used to analyze the movement of human or animals, then they were applied in virtual reality and human-computer interaction. Due to technical progress, there are mechanical, magnetic, acoustic, optical and inertial motion capture systems, and the optical motion capture system is by far the most widely used motion capture system. But because of its equipment and installation operation is complex and expensive, they are replace with convenient inertial motion capture system.Research of this article is based on MEMS sensors and wireless sensor networks, and the human body motion capture system can satisfy the requirement of real-time human motion capture. This paper is composed of three parts:(1) Study and compared the existing inertial motion capture system implementation schemes, analyzed their advantages and disadvantages in detail. Design and realized the accurate human body skeleton motion capture nodes, the transmission node and the sink node. (2) Analysis the network scheme of the existing inertial motion capture system, discusses the bottlenecks of traditional wireless sensor network used in inertial motion capture system. Eventually adopted the wireless RF chip which physical layer data rate is 2Mbits/s, design and implements a wireless sensor network which is applicable to the inertial motion capture system. The network can realize attitude data transmission frequency of 100 Hz after, and leave enough space for system extensions. (3) The body gesture can transmit to the PC in real time, and could display human motion after data process and binding with virtual characters.After system set up and actual testing shows that the design of inertial motion capture system can meet the design needs, system is stable and reliable, and has practical value in engineering application.
