The Independent Critique was found in the 1930s, by Hu Shih and a group of scholars from famous universities and academic institutions in Peking and other district. The magazine published not only its own members’ writing articles, but also with an open attitude to accept manuscripts and letters from all over the country. Its existence in the five years (1932-1937) which is China’s Political critical period we face domestic and overseas. Under the special historical background, how to guide public opinion and undertake patriotic responsibilities is obviously of great significance for those intellectuals.
