The most striking characteristic of documentary approach of film picturing is its nonfiction. It passes sincere feelings and attitudes to audiences through presenting real characters and true incidents, and attempts at showing directors’viewpoints by the montage of video materials. The practice shows that if can be applied to television public service advertising, it can be much easier for this kind of image creative technique to excite audiences’emotions and produce impactful emotional resonance, form positive and effective thoughts.In this paper, I will take the documentary TV public service advertising column from CCTV named Sincere Communication as my object of study, analyse the application of documentary in the TV public service advertising column through case study, and advise on the specific operation methods of the application of documentary in the TV public service advertising. At first, I will conduct a quantification analysis about all the characters and themes of this column, from analysing the data, I want to know more about the column’s prevalence and essence of the choice of character and theme. Then, under the theory of film and television director, I will analyse the vocal and visual elements, the lens language and some other technologies during filming, from dissecting the detailed operation method of Sincere Communication, I want to sum their methods and rules in practice. After that, I will carry out a theory carding to explore the strategy of the TV public service advertising about its column style, story telling and consciousness in the scene, preliminarily form a inductive summary of what is documentary’s function and revelation for TV public service advertising. Through all of the three parts, I’d like to build a complete analysis of application, I hope that I can analyse the present situation and the trend of development of documentary TV public service advertising column more fully and objectively, and provide guidance on how to apply documentary into TV public service advertising column.
