Performance Assessment On Information Resources Organization Of Archives Websites

Archives website is an important way to provide information to the public. With the number growing of archives websites, they are playing an increasingly important role in providing content and services. The main function and meaning of archives websites are to provide information resources, so the effect of the websites and how they provided services depends on the integrity and structural of information resources organization. Currently, studies are very rare about the performance assessment on information resources organization of archives websites. The scope is not yet clear, and most of the indicator systems are based on the existing structure of websites, which lack of forward looking and the characteristics of archives websites. And few using cases can be find in this subject.The research is an important part of National Social Science Fund Project: "Organization and Utilization of Information Resources on Archives Websites" (08BTQ039), focuses on the performance assessment of information resources organization on archives websites. Study combines literature analysis, interviews and other methods, using the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) and Delphi Method to build the performance assessment indicator system, and use the scientific methods to assess the current situation and problems of the information resources organization of archives websites, providing suggestions for the improving of archives websites. The full study includes six parts as follows.Chapter 1:Introduction section introduces the background and the significance, review the status of study and work of this field in our country and foreign countries based on the literature research on databases, and defined the related concepts.Chapter 2:This part analyzes the necessity and feasibility of performance assessment on information resources organization of archives websites. The work of performance assessment on this field is necessary no matter from the perspective of the archives website construction, economic investment, the organization innovation, or the long-term view of the development of digital archives. The study also describes the performance assessment of government websites, the library websites, corporate websites, and proved the feasibility of this study.Chapter 3:The article build the performance assessment system, using the method of LFA and Delphi, combined with the trial assessment on Qingdao archives website.Chapter 4:This part is about the empirical analysis on the performance assessment system. Taking the 14 archives websites in Jiangsu Province as examples, the results reflects the effect of the 14 websites, and demonstrates the performance assessment system as feasible, scientific, and practical.Chapter 5:Study provides the implement strategy of performance assessment on information resources organization of archives websites, including the main bodies, basic principles, processes and quality control strategies.Chapter 6:The conclusion of the study summarized the main results of the research, and discusses how to promote of performance assessment on information resource organization of archives websites.The main innovation of this study lies in the construction of a detailed, objective and practical performance assessment system, making empirical analysis to test the feasibility of the indicator system, and providing implement strategy of how to process the assessment.
