Zhengzhou Broadcasting Station Staff Stress Analysis And Stress Coping Strategy Advice

With the boom of economy and rapid development of new media led by the merge of information age, the competition in traditional media industry is getting increasingly more intensive, which has caused critical issues of working pressure to journalists in traditional media industry. Such issues and its consequences would not only endanger journalists’ health condition as well as their career development; it would, what is even worse, harm the sustainable development of the entire industry. Thus, it is practical significantly meaningful to study on journalists issues of working pressure.In this article, the author set journalists of Zhengzhou People’s Broadcasting Station as object of study. Based on “Sheet of Professional Stress Indicator” and previous relevant articles, the author designed a set of questionnaire surveys focusing on the station’s current situation and conducted a series of research on the state quo of journalists’ working pressure.By analyzing descriptive statistical data, levels of working pressure in different job positions, and sorts of variables, the author drew following conclusions:Journalists are generally experiencing high level of working pressure that mainly led by the job characteristics:①There is relatively huge difference of working pressure in terms of job characteristics, work-family issues, physical health condition, job satisfaction and organizational response between groups in different job positions;②There is certain extent of relevance between consequences caused by and methods of dealing with working pressure and its sources; ③there is, however, no evidence showing the relevance between consequences and methods.4④The consequent physical and mental health condition as well as job satisfaction are largely affected by different sources of working pressure.Lastly, in order to eliminate the negative effects caused by working pressures to journalists, maintain their health condition on promising level, and increase their working efficiency, author contributed recommendations on dealing with both organizational and individual working pressure based on his research results.
