With the development of multimedia technology, people want to get a higher-quality sound hoping to build a virtual audio space. Virtual stereo technology is the key to build a virtual audio space. And thanks to digital signal processing developing evoluting at a high speed, virtual stereo technology gradually become possible to achieve. And now virtual stereo technology has become the important topic in the field of the audio processing. During to the condition of recording voice, binaural sound signal cannot be recorded. But a binaural is needed to build a virtual audio space. So this paper tells us how to make a mono signal become a binaural signal with sound source position information and reverberation through digital signal processing.First of all, this paper tells the development of virtual stereo technology and the present situation of the research at home and abroad and describes physiology of human ears. And this paper also tells how to evaluate the effect of stereo. In addition, this paper review the principle of the sound source position reverberation and pitch shifting system and analysis the methods on how to construct the sound source position and the reverberation. The design of the system on sound source position, reverberation and pitch shifting is completed considering the characteristics of constructed sound signal by headphone. With a mono signal as input signal, the stimulation by matlab is made with the condition on different methods of sound source position and different reverberation models. At last, virtual stereo system is tested by human. In the experiment, the accuracy of sound source position, the effect of reverberation and the influence with different frequency signals is tested. This paper analysis and discusses the data of the experiment.By the data of the experiment, the binaural virtual stereo system is feasible. And considering the data of the experiment, this paper presents the deficiencies and shortcomings and points the direction of future improvements.
