Surface plasmon polaritons waveguide’s electric field distribution has a high binding, while, due to its rapidly decay waveguide (exponential decay),therefore its propagation distance is greatly limited, these characteristics make it a great contribution to solving the question of optical components under the diffraction limit problem. Brings the possibility to producing the nanometer integrated optical components.Firstly, we discussed and described the way for the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons, and put forward the finite element method to analyze its related discussion. Through the introduction of surface plasmon optical waveguides leads to the important parameters to measure the quality of the waveguide transmission performance, leads to the contents of this article focuses on the media is loaded surface plasmon waveguides.On the basis of the traditional rectangular dielectric loaded surface plasmon waveguide, this paper proposes two improved options, one is to propose a new media ridge structure-the ladder; the other is to optimize rectangular dielectric to a optimized double ridge structure.we use COMSOL which designed base on FEM,to get the electric field of SPPS.then compare them to the traditional rectangular dielectric loaded surface plasmon waveguide.In addition, through analysis the propagation constants, the pattern width, quality factor control parameters which described in this article,we come to a conclusion that the transmission performance of these two structures are better than the old one by juxtapose the relevant parameters. Besides, we get that the ladder structure waveguide propagation length, pattern width, quality factor better than the rectangular structure by up to 60%,27%,40%, and double rectangular configuration corresponding to these parameters than the rectangular structure has at most 50%,7%,25% increase. Meanwhile.we also talk about the affect of d,and at last we get a conclusion that while d is close to one hundred nm that it’s waveguide get best performance.
