With the rapid development of nanotechnology and optical integration, the surface plasmon-polariton waves provide the possibilities to achieve the miniaturization and integration of the nanometer device, and break through the diffraction limit of the traditional optical waveguide. In recent years, this technology has been studied widely, and has a splendid future in practical application.Based on the analysis of the surface plasmon-polariton waveguides, the concept of long-range surface plasmon-polariton waveguide is introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages is discussed distinctively. Though this structure shows some advantages such as long-range transmission, it is unable to effectively constraint subwavelength ability. While the dielectric-loaded surface plasmon-polariton waveguide can positively overcome the defect above, so the long-range dielectric-loaded surface plasmon-polariton waveguide is presented as a hybrid structure. The proposed structure not just achieves the property of long-range transmission, but also achieves a good binding ability. Based on the study of the traditional rectangular dielectric-loaded long-range surface plasmon-polariton waveguide, this paper proposes two new types of semicircle and semielliptical long-range dielectric-loaded surface Plasmon-polariton waveguides. By analyzing and comparing the new structures with traditional long-range dielectric-loaded surface Plasmon-polariton waveguides, the four important parameters of transmission are studied by Comsol or similar software base on the finite element method. The results show that the new types of long-range dielectric-loaded surface plasmon-polariton waveguides are more conducive to integration of designing and fabricating micro-devices, which have great potential for practical application.
