With the growing popularity of LCD, LCD display technology continues to progress. People’s requirement for the LCD is no longer confined to display only, but on the LCD’s function, appearance, price and more and more other requirements. The high requirement of the color restoration for LCD is one of aspects. This subject is to study a color restoration method that enhances LCD color restoration performance and needs low development cost.This paper studies LCD display and color restoration theory, as well as the common color restoration method for the current LCD, aiming at the problem of the poor color restoration for the current LCD such as poor color saturation and unsufficient contrast, combine with the chromatics and color psychology, based on the sprightly effect of the color matching, this paper presents a scheme to improve LCD’s color restoration performance. Firstly, in this improvement scheme, the picture signal is read and analyzed, digital control the picture signal with color enhancement. Then, by studying the selected LCD panel’s backlight characteristics, control the backlight’s brightness on region. Lastly, we compensate for the brightness.Through the improvement scheme, the color saturation is enhanced,as well as the contrast.it lead the picture’ display effect sprightly,and achieve better color restoration performance.Based on the suggested color restoration scheme, this subject uses AUO Corporation’s luminescent properties of M270HVN02 panel with edge-lit backlight structure and studies its characteristics of luminescence, based on the NOVATEK’s image processing chip, gives improved color restoration hardware and software systems design. In this system, the hardware design related to the improved color restoration mainly consists of the incoming picture signal part, the digital color control part and the brightness area control part. The software design mainly includes analyzing and incoming picture signal processing part, digital color control part and so on.After processed by the method.the picture’s color saturation and contrast effect is improved greatly, it lead the picture more sprightly and suitable for human visual experience,thus it improve the color restoration performance.Finally.for the LCD system that uses the improved LCD’s color restoration scheme in this subject,we did the brightness and contrast test data and picture quality review test, contrasting with the test result when the improved color restoration function turn on and turn off,it is proved that the scheme is effective for improving the LCD’s color restoration. The subject’s scheme improved the LCD’s practical problem of the color saturation and unsufficient contrast, and it is of certain guiding significance for improving the LCD’s color restoration effect.
