Social economy continues to grow,at the same time,3C technology continues to improve. That spurred people to pay more attention to their life quality and the living environment, so smart home become a hot topic. Many research institutions, traditional household electrical appliance enterprises and Internet companies have joined the research boom, which bring smart home many new achievements. But at the same time, there also exited some issues, such as it has poor experience in real-time, compatibility and scalability.On the question of that real-time performance of current smart home remote control system is not strong, the system’s scalability is poor, and other issues, through a further analysis of the remote transmission protocol, this paper introduces an instant communication protocol which is could XMPP into the Smart home. And this paper designed a communication mechanism which is meet the requirement of smart home. in order to describe describe the control information and household devices better, XML transport format is extended.On this basis, designed and developed the smart home remote system.First, this paper studies the current development at home and abroad in the field of smart home, introduces representative homes design in many countries, analysis the deficiencies in smart home system currently. Then, compare to the current mainstream remote transmission protocol and internal networking, a method is proposed which choose XMPP protocol as the remote transmission protocol, and choose Zig Bee protocol as internal networking transmission protocol. Subsequently, this paper describes the communication method of system, including system’s communications infrastructure, definition of XML transport stream and address, which extends the communication protocol based on smart home control systems and security mechanisms. Next, this paper designs and implement a detailed smart home remote system, develops remote control client and home gateway client, and do secondary development on the open source server Open Fire, also uses asmack to constructe the system. It verifies the availability and real-time performance of the system from the function test and performance test。.Smart home remote control system designed in this paper has a strong real-time performance and scalability, also has good performance in safety. In the case that the standard of the current transmission is not unified, it provides a certain reference for researching a better smart home remote control technology and makes a more frmal standard of smart home control information.
