With the constant improvement of market demands, manufacturing production has transformed from the traditional high-volume push-type manufacturing to pull-type punctual manufacturing and lean manufacturing, and with the rapid development of science and technology, computer-aided manufacturing and flexible manufacturing modes have become an evolutionary trend. Logistics facilities as the basis for the production activities of modern enterprises must be able to meet many varieties of small batch production modes, so scientific and rational arrangement of the different functional areas of the facilities will effectively maintain the smooth operation of the production logistics system. Taking into account of the complexity of multi-purpose logistics facility layout design, it is difficult for the traditional methods which obtain the optimal solution by building mathematical model and manual layout to meet the complex demands of modern production methods. This paper discusses a new warehouse:Logistics Optimize Centre (LOC), including its main functions, the basic processes, and internal regional planning. LOC as a logistics facility is no longer a traditional warehouse with single storage function; instead, it is a new warehouse integrating packing, repacking, sorting, processing, assembling, reverse logistics and other value-added features under the guidance of the principles of lean thinking. To ensure the efficient and sustainable operation of the logistics system in the LOC, various functional areas of LOC shall be divided according to specific content of work first, and then rational layout design shall be conducted. SLP method is the classical method to solve the layout problem. While analyzing the conventional SLP method, this paper combines EIQ basic element analysis method, SHA logistics handling method and conventional SLP method, and uses position correlation method to carryout initial relative position layout design in design of initial layout model. Logistics relationship and non-logistics relationship have a significant impact on layout. Because non-logistics relationship is a subjective qualitative factor, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Delphi method are used to quantify the impact of non-logistics factor on layout. The two factors will be transformed into the affinity describing logistics quantity and the correlation of non-logistics relationship, and their impact on the distance between various functional areas within the facilities is analyzed to build the layout model of a double object function. To solve the model, the genetic algorithm with robustness and parallelism characteristics is selected to build a suitable fitness function and penalty function and solve the model efficiently and quickly. In the case study section, with the LOC running in Liuzhou WL automobile factory as an example, this paper applies the layout model into the facility layout optimization project, and by defining the work content of different areas, it re-divides the internal functional areas, combs the processes, and optimizes the interior layout. Therefore, under the premise of fully considering the impact of quantitative and non-quantitative factors within various functional areas, it uses improved SLP method to build the layout model of the functional areas within LOC, and uses the genetic algorithms to solve the model, thereby obtaining the optimized layout scheme. Meanwhile, it makes a qualitative and quantitative comparison with the real layout in reality to verify the effectiveness of the model. Finally it draws a conclusion that the model has a good practical significance in optimizing the layout of new warehouses with complex functions and many influencing factors.
