With the rapid development of power electronics technology, IGBTs are more andmore widely used in various areas. Control system and IGBT modules are connected byIGBT drivers. As one of the key technologies of IGBT application, IGBT drive technologyis very important to the safe and reliable work of IGBTs. It is directly related to theperformance of the electronic system. It is the prerequisite of electronic technologytowards high frequency, integrated and modular that researches the more advanced drivetechnology to improve the working conditions of IGBTs.The thesis analyzes the physical structure and the basic operating characteristics ofIGBT. Based on the operating characteristics and the working process, the switch drivetechnology using variable gate resistance was proposed. It can accelerate the switchingspeed and reduce the switching power. The short circuit detection technology based on uCEand di/dt was analyzed and compared. A new short circuit detection technology combineduCEand di/dt was proposed that consolidated their strengths and weaknesses. It canaccelerate the speed of short circuit detection and reduce the maximum current. The TVSclamp technology and soft-shutdown technology used to protect IGBT were analyzed andcompared.Factors that influence the equilibrium of the parallel IGBTs’ currents were analyzed.The problems must be solved that proposed based on the practical application of IGBTs. Anew drive technology to drive parallel IGBTs that uses the independent gate resistance andemitter resistance was proposed. It can improve the equilibrium of the IGBTs’ currents.A programmable IGBT drive module is designed based on CPLD. It includescomplete drive circuits such as DC/DC power supply, switching drive, short circuitdetection, short circuit protection, reception and feedback of signals, etc. Based ontheoretical study, an experimental platform was established. According to the contentsresearched, a series of sound experiments were finished. Experimental results verified thetheoretical research.
