Video games are getting more and more popular today and game industry is attracting numerous people to jump in. Interaction, the most obvious character of game, will motivate the player’s activeness for learning and practice as well as for gaining funny from playing. So, we can take advantage of games’educational function reasonably and efficiently to afford the youth a new learning method. We hope this will help the new media obtain more social support and make the under-growing industry develop positively.The content of this project is to design and realize an educational video game, which will show you the work flow of a whole development process. The objective is to realize educational effect on the target users by developing game mechanic and implementing the interactive functionality on a specified platform, to locate market positioning and target customers by means of requirement estimation, to achieve design objective through a completed project development and to verify the future development of educational games as well as the chance and opportunity of all video games in current market.The main work and focal points of this project are listed below:1. By pre-design, we went through market positioning, theme defining and copyrights agreement then established the game theme and design thoughts for positive educational effects and market support. During design process, we cooperated with professional educators to combine real education data with game content for implementing the educational requirements in a reasonable and effective way, which made the educational function realized by corresponding the game process with actual lessons. Then we compiled the game documents accordingly.2. We verified the design requirements based on the project request, then made our resource/timeline estimation and project plan. The plan was executed strictly and made all section objectives realized as scheduled.3. During the development progress, the team conquered a time zone issue. The team worked cooperatively to achieve all milestones with the help of the precise plan, efficient project management tools and control methods.4. In order to solving the memory occupying issue, our team designed and worked out Bitmap, a plug-in for Flash 8. The tool made us accelerate our work efficiency and had the workflow more fluent, which helped the development go on as planned.5. While testing period, we made detailed testing plan and used efficient bug tracking methods for bug filtering and reporting. With the profit from regular testing feedback, we found the memory occupying issue earlier and solved the problem in time, which afforded us crucial time and chance for completing the project.The game’s latest version successfully passed through the final testing with full functionality confirmation this February and will be published on shelves later this year. |
