The Design And Realization Of Android App On The Primary School Timetable

With the spread and development of the mobile intelligent devices, various applicationshave been developed continuously and applied to all the sectors of social life. There arewidespread applications of the mobile application in the field of education. School timetableis an important case. Through the application of the timetable, teachers, students and parentscan get the relevant information at any time, such as class time and location, and the requiredthings. Besides, the corresponding notifications can be set to avoid the unnecessary absencecaused by forgetting and false memory.The pupils are young and have limited cognitive competence, so they always forget theclass information or the required things of the next class. What’s more, parents, in order to thecomprehensive development of children, will choose the interest-oriented class for theirchildren. Therefore, it’s necessary to develop a timetable application suitable for pupils.The paper, based on the Android platform, designs and develops a mobile application forthe job demand of the author and the convenience of pupils and parents. The application, usedfor the management of the school classes and the interest-oriented classes, has such functionsas timetable management, class management, teacher management, and the management andsetting of the reminder. Class management and teacher management have the functions of theaddition, query and deletion of the relevant records. Timetable management, the mostimportant module of the application, is in charge of the show and management of thetimetable information. The module, according to different natures of courses, is divided intotwo sub-modules---school timetable and interest-oriented class timetable. The twosub-modules, according to their features, realize their functions in the different ways, but thedata produced by the two sub-modules will be stored into the unified data base. The settingmodule also has two sub-modules---the module of class time setting and the module of thesystem setting. The two sub-modules have the functions of the input of the fixed school timeand the system setting. The reminder work includes notification in the mobile devices andshort messages, and the short messages can be sent to the user’s phone and other phones.The paper focuses on the background, the used technologies and tools of the Android Appdevelopment of the primary school timetable. The requirements towards the application(including the functional requirement and nonfunctional requirements) are analyzed. Based onthe requirement analysis, the paper introduces the processes of the division of the functionalmodules, the design of the database and the specific design of all the modules. The applicationis realized in the platform of Eclipse through Java and Android Sdk developed by Google. The design and development of Android App on the primary school timetable complieswith the development of information and technology and provides a powerful tool for themanagement and record of the course information of the pupils with the intelligent device. Itavoids the results caused by forgetting and false memory helps parents with the rationalmanagement of time and improves the efficiency in working and education. Compared withthe papery timetable which lacks portability and the reminders, it has many advantages andgood user experience.The paper will go further to beautify the interface and optimize the functions of theapplication according to the characteristics of the pupils.
