| The Court had always been the center of Chinese political powers. In retrospectto the2000-year-history of China, the Court was always mysterious and obscure,therefore, caused significant public curiosity. On the one hand, the dissemination ofthe Court News relied much upon the historians works or the unofficial hearsays,which had no guarantee of certainty. On the other hand, the Court news had alwaysbeen such an taboo that a majority of historical events could only be recorded by thehistorians of the next dynasty, which sets limitation to restoring the truth. As timewent to the end of Qing Dynasty, when China was forced by the powers to open up,the advanced technologies and ideas in the west were transferred to China, and newsmedia came into being on the oriental continent. At that moment, the Court of QingDynasty began to gradually change its own image in order to serve its ruling of theempire. The Court News undertook such a mission, and news from inside the Courtwas presented to the public on both governmental and non-governmental news papers.Ta Kung Pao, first published in Qing Dynasty, recorded the Court life during thelast decade of the empire in way of news reports. In fact, Ta Kung Pao was not theonly news paper that documented the Court News, such mission was also undertakenby Shun Pao, Jing Pao, Universal Circulating Herald, etc.. However, since Ta KungPao headquatered in the French Concession in Tianjin and was established withforeign intervention, it was well-informed and courageous enough to flexibly reportthe Court News without many constraints. Thus, this thesis focus on the Court Newsreported by Ta Kung Pao. The author endeavors to reveal the change of NewsConception reflected in the Court News of Ta Kung Pao and its significant indications.It is expected that such works may substantiate the academic study on Ta Kung Paoand provide a brand new perspective for the study on the modern history of Chinesejournalism. |
