With the advent of the mobile Internet era, people’s demand for multimedia applications and platform is increasing. Multimedia device, equipped with friendly human-computer interaction interface, excellent audio-visual processing capabilities, external wired and wireless network interfaces, has mainly trend to develop current multimedia processing equipment. Research and development of high-performance processing equipment is vital in the field of multimedia processing platform.This paper illustrates the realization of the enhanced multimedia audio-visual processing platform by virtue of processing units with DM3730heterogeneous dual-core processor. The enhanced platform upgraded the storage system of the DM3730core processing unit, to implement the fixed storage of resources with a capacity of1GB LPDDR and a maximum capacity of32GB EMMC. In the case of DM3730equipped with single digital video interface, this paper implements double input video acquisition unit supporting analog video signals and digital video signals, and also achieves the switch between software and hardware. The enhanced platform enables external wireless and wired network connection. The wireless connection mode includes3G mobile communication network, WIFI network access, Bluetooth communications. The wired network communications include Ethernet communication, etc. Such implementation ensures that multimedia processing platform can be applied to the network terminal device, so that users can put the processed multimedia information obtained from the terminal to the internet, as well as download multimedia information from the Internet to output after processing. In addition. the enhanced processing platform is equipped with android2.2system and a variety of display mode including LCD display, DVI interface, s-video, etc. Besides, the system provides power with lithium-ion polymer battery, thus the enhanced platform is portable and miniaturized. At the end of this paper, the actual test and verification of the enhanced processing capability for the processing platform is illustrated. Testing and validation results show that functions of the platform perform well and that it can meet the design requirements.Enhanced multimedia platform designed and researched in this paper provides a design idea toward multi-application scenarios, powerful capabilities and easy miniaturization. It is promising in the field of security monitoring and mobile terminals.
