The rapid development of Internet technologies in the21st Century has resulted in the increasing demands on more Internet applications. Enterprises also has growing demands on computing, storage and network resource. For the above reasons, virtualization technologies have come into being. Virtualization Technologies have improved the efficiency of traditional physical servers and reduced the cost of IT infrastructure effectively by isolating application software from underlying hardware. More and more enterprises use virtualization technologies in their IT infrastructure. So how to guarantee the high availability of virtualized environments has become one of the hotspots of the industry. In this paper, the research on guaranteeing the high availability of the virtualization environment is focused. The availability of virtualization environment depends on the resource scheduling subsystem, which includes resource scheduling at the first time and resource migration at the runtime. The former improved the availability of system depends on the scheduling algorithm, and the latter guaranteed the availability of system by the redistribution of resource at the runtime. Both of them must rely on the real-time monitoring of the computing and storage resources. In this paper, a resource-oriented virtualization platform with high availability is designed and implemented. The high availability of the platform is optimized on three aspects which are resource monitoring, resource placement and resource migration. In this paper, the requirments of the virtualization technologies are first analyzed. And a resource-oriented virtualization platform with high availability is designed. Then there is a detailed explanation on the design and implementation of the monitoring subsystem and the resource scheduling subsystem. In the end, tests on the platform are introduced in order to verify the effectiveness of the platform.
