With the process of global broadband, passive optical network technology has become the core of broadband optical access network, and WDM-PON is the ultimate goal of passive optical networks. The optical transceiver module is the core component of WDM-PON system, which determines the quality of the whole system, at the same time, the combination of other multiplexing technology into the WDM-PON system is so important that it is the key of achieving higher transmission capacity.Based on the DFB laser in butterfly package and the PIN-TIA optical assembly with the rate of2.5G bit/s, this paper mainly completed the design and performance evaluation of single-wavelength digital optical transceiver modules for WDM-PON of2.5Gbit/s. What’s more, we also designed a new WDM-PON system based on polarization multiplexing and RoF technology, and made simulation analysis and theoretical verification of multi-wavelength WDM-RoF-PON system with Optisystem software.In the design of digital optical transceiver module, firstly we introduced the automatic power control and automatic temperature control circuit design for optical transmitter module, secondly we introduced the limiting amplifier and differential to single-ended circuit design for optical receiver module, then we introduced the difficult points in PCB design, and finally we evaluated the performance of the optical transceiver module, mainly around eye diagram, extinction ratio, sensitivity and saturated optical power. After testing, the eye diagram was clear and correct, the extinction ratio was up to8.5dB,the sensitivity reached-22dBm and the saturated optical power was greater than3dB. In the WDM-RoF-PON system, we realized the simultaneous downstream transmission of wired signal in DPSK format and RoF signal using polarization multiplexing technology, and ASK upstream signal’s remodulation based on RSOA. We simulated the spectrum of modulated signals and the eye diagram of received signals, evaluated the effect of crosstalks between different optical channels on the downstream signals, and analyzed the relationship between transmission signals’ BER and received optical power by changing the external parameters of RSOA and the length of transmission fiber.
