As the fundamental network to support voice, data, video and other business services, optical access network’s development towards broadband, wireless and convergence has been very clear. With the large-scale construction of FTTx network, the coverage of passive optical network (PON) is becoming more and more widely. The FTTx broadband access resources are used to support base station which can solve the problem of access transmission resources shortages and has the advantage of saving fiber, flexible deployment and good extensibility. PON technology can support wireless base station on packet switching network and provide adequate bandwidth to base station conveniently with low costs, effectively saving the mobile backhaul operational costs.How to utilize limited resources to construct the optical and wireless converged network with the feature of high reliability, strong expansibility and economical principle, is currently an important research subject in broadband access field. The analysis of characteristics of mobile data, cellular base station site selection and the distribution and location selection of ODN are common problems in actual topology planning and optimization. However, the traditional ways based on artificial experience cannot meet the requirements of growing bandwidth and complex system optimization design.Research work of this article is mainly about the optical and wireless converged network topology optimization design. On the one hand, analyzes the mobile data and multi-layer relationship of converged network in details, on the other hand, researches and analyzes the base station site selection and the algorithm and process of multi-layer topology optimization design of PON, which can make related feasible solutions on converged network design. The key research content includes the following aspects:(1) The study of the characteristics of mobile data service, analyzes the business requirements and predicts the business distribution and user behavior;(2) Proposes a multi-layer topology optimization model of converged network and related resources optimization strategy;(3) Designs a weight-improved optimized site selection algorithm for small cells and multi-layer topology optimization design method of PON.Combined with previous research, this paper proposes a multi-layer topology optimization design method of converged network. Otherwise, a site optimized selection algorithm based on weight-improved greedy randomized adaptive search has been discussed to solve the problem of small cells topology design of converged network. The algorithm can exclude those small cells with high costs and low population relatively which can deploy small cells optimally and cost little.
